Your body remembers. But healing is possible – gently, safely, at your pace.
Trauma isn't just a memory. It's the way your body still tenses when you hear a certain tone of voice. It's the hyper-vigilance, the nightmares, the feeling of being stuck in something that happened years ago.
You've been so brave carrying this alone. But you don't have to anymore.
We won't rush. We won't push. We'll work with your nervous system – not against it.
Depending on what feels right for you, we might:
Use somatic experiencing to gently release trauma stored in your body
Explore EMDR to process memories so they lose their emotional grip
Practice narrative therapy to help you rewrite your story – from one of victim to one of survivor, and beyond
As we work together:
You feel safer in your own body
Memories lose their power to hijack your day
You start to trust yourself again
The hyper-vigilance softens
Then we don't talk about it – at least not directly. With body-based methods like somatic experiencing, we can work with how trauma shows up in your body without verbally reliving every detail. Your comfort sets the pace.
Without getting too technical: EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or gentle taps) to help your brain reprocess traumatic memories. Think of it like helping your brain file away something that's been stuck in a loop. Many clients find it surprisingly gentle and deeply effective.
Yes. Whether it happened last year or decades ago, your nervous system remembers. We'll work with however old the wound is.
No. That's actually the opposite of what we want. The goal is to reduce the memory's charge, not re-traumatize you. You're in control of how much we explore.
